Our experience

For twenty years, we have been helping STEM organisations in the UK, Europe and North America to develop the leadership capabilities and professional skills of their new, aspiring and experienced managers.

The STEM Leadership Academy grew out of Cambridge Executive Development and its work with numerous scientific organisations in the Cambridge STEM Cluster, as well as some of the world’s most well-known companies, universities, government bodies and NGOs.

As a result of our wealth of experience supporting a wide range of STEM organisations, we know that every client’s needs are unique, and will collaborate with you to combine our experience with your inside knowledge to create a carefully tailored training programme that meets your needs head-on.

Feedback for our courses and trainers

"The feedback from the attendees was incredibly positive: Excellent and delivered at a good pace; good amount of interaction with others; gives you an opportunity to ‘think’ which rarely happens at work; valuable and very helpful with future career development; helps you understand where you are now and gives you the tools to step up"
Mariella Giancola, Head of HR
British Antarctic Survey

"The STEM Leadership program provided very valuable insights and guidance for professionals with research backgrounds who are transitioning into leadership positions! I learned new skills that are not taught in graduate training, but are quite critical for the success of those managing large teams and programs. This program equipped me with the necessary tools to excel in my new role and face challenges with confidence. I would highly recommend this program to others!"
Dr Danielle Roubinov, Associate Professor
University of North Carolina

“We’ve worked with STEM Leadership Academy to build our scientists’ project management skills, with a focus on improving communication and collaboration. The training and coaching were carefully tailored to our needs, and were extremely well received by the team. We’ve seen a marked improvement as a result of the programme, and our scientists have become much more aware of the value of building and maintaining relationships to the success of their projects.”
Craig Mills, CEO
Vizzuality

"Working with [Lead Consultant] Kate is a pleasure. Professional, as expected, but also efficient, insightful and adaptable as a trainer and in providing feedback to coaches. Everyone learned loads and even more importantly, Kate ensured we knew how to put our learning into action!"
James Farrell, Head of Coaching

“[Lead Consultant] Kate has a vast amount of knowledge of leadership development and feedback from workshop participants has been that the quality of facilitation on the leadership development programmes provided both a great experience and a toolkit to take back to and use. Managers and staff have also commented that the skills and knowledge gained from Kate’s coaching has enabled them to get the best out of people, improved their leadership skills and transformed their understanding of Emotional Intelligence and interactions with colleagues.”
Maggie Brown, Head of HR

"This course was unlike any other I have been on and it has been nothing short of transformational for me! I am weaving aspects of it into areas of my life both inside and outside of work with great effect… I am noticeably more confident and self-aware since I took part on the course and feel empowered to develop my career in a way that plays to my strengths and embraces change."
